Group Financial Controller

ECG Headquarters - Equitom Lummen

Working at group level means seeing the bigger picture. From our office in Limburg, we work closely with finance teams across all our entities worldwide to ensure consistent consolidation, reporting and compliance standards — and to continuously strengthen those processes as the group grows.

As a private-equity-backed organisation with an active M&A agenda, you will be exposed to a broad range of finance topics, including multi-GAAP reporting (Belgian GAAP and IFRS), cross-border tax structures, purchase price allocations, bank and covenant reporting, board reporting, and the implementation of a new group ERP system.

This is a rare opportunity to gain exposure to the full spectrum of group finance, build senior-level expertise at an accelerated pace, and work closely with the CFO and finance leaders across an international organisation.

Über die Rolle

Reporting to the Head of Accounting, Consolidation & Financial Reporting, you will play a central role in the reliable, accurate and timely financial reporting of the group. You will act as a bridge between our local accounting teams, group finance and external partners — ensuring our financial processes are compliant, consistent and aligned with the group’s standards. Depending on your profile and ambitions, your role will combine consolidation, group reporting, statutory work and audit coordination, with room to take ownership and grow.

Wer bist du?

Your responsibilities:

  • Consolidation: prepare and control the quarterly and year-end consolidation of assigned entities under Belgian GAAP and IFRS (intercompany reconciliation and eliminations, FX / translation differences, NCI, goodwill and PPA follow-up).
  • Closing & review: review and validate accounting entries and reporting packages submitted by local teams, ensuring accuracy and consistency with group policies and reporting standards.
  • Statutory reporting: contribute to the preparation of statutory annual accounts and annual reports (jaarrekening / jaarverslag) under the WVV and Belgian GAAP, including supporting disclosures.
  • Management reporting: support the preparation of board and management reporting packs — P&L reviews, variance and waterfall analyses, and divisional deep-dives.
  • Audit coordination: act as a key contact for the external auditors, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of financial information.
  • Process & controls: help improve and standardise financial processes, internal controls, group accounting policies and reporting tooling — including the ongoing ERP roll-out.
  • Collaboration: work closely with financial and operational teams across the group so that financial data supports decision-making and continuous improvement.

Your profile:

  • Education: Degree in economics, finance, commercial engineering (TEW / EW / handelsingenieur / BEW) or a related field.
  • Experience: minimum 3 years of relevant experience, ideally in audit, consulting, or (group) financial controlling / consolidation.
  • Technical: strong understanding of accounting principles under Belgian GAAP; consolidation knowledge under Belgian GAAP and IFRS is strongly preferred (yet not required), so that you can also contribute to the consolidated work.
  • Tools: experience with consolidation software (e.g. SigmaConso) and reporting tools is a clear asset.
  • IT: advanced Excel skills.
  • Languages: fluent in Dutch and English; French is a strong asset (German, Spanish or Italian are welcome but not required).
  • Mindset: dynamic, driven, and a fast learner; autonomous, with an entrepreneurial mindset and a willingness to take responsibility.
  • Personality: curious, proactive and critical, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide range of profiles across cultures.

ECG has rapidly grown into a pioneering force in interdisciplinary equine medicine, treating over 55,000 horses annually and serving clients in more than 70 countries, redefining standards in equine healthcare.
